Heritage Mississauga has a growing collection of reference materials relating
to the various periods of Mississauga's history. The archival collection
is used by the community to enhance understanding of local history as
well as aid various research projects.
Heritage Mississauga catalogues various heritage resources such as historic
photographs, primary and secondary documents as well as audio and video
history related materials. The Foundation is constantly searching out into
the community for more sources.
Since the fall of 1995, volunteer interviewers and summer students have
conducted and recorded 61 interviews with individuals from Mississauga
who are valuable sources of Mississauga's history. Over 31 of these tapes
have been transcribed and some of these have been donated to the Canadiana
Room in the Mississauga Central Library. Heritage
Mississauga is always looking for volunteers to assist in the transcription
of these tapes. To volunteer, please call
(905) 615-4415.
