Dobkin, Martin Lyon

Martin Lyon Dobkin was born on May 8th, 1942 in Toronto to Irving Dobkin and Mary Gorlitsky who were originally from Russia. He came to Mississauga in 1968. He served as the mayor of Mississauga from 1974 to 1976. Prior to his election, he had no political experience. He was the first mayor to have a column in the Mississauga News and a cable show. He married Michele on June 30th, 1968 and they had three children, Edward, Caroline and Alain. In 1968, Dr. Martin Dobkin began practicing Family Medicine in Cooksville where he continues his medical practice on 3420 Hurontario Street. In 2003, after being injured in a car accident, he reduced his practice to a part-time basis. He still continues to serve his many longtime patients.
