Heritage Trails Project
The Heritage Trails Project is focused on researching the histories of people and place along the course of our City’s trail networks. Mississauga has an exstensive network of rescreational and hiking trails, and together with the City of Mississauga, Heritage Mississauga is creating trailhead signs that highlight the natural and human history along the given routes of trails. We are also developing comprehensive, publicly accessible databases filled with historical, ecological, cultural, geological, archaeological, and recreational information about the things residents can see and do along the trail routes, and what they would have seen in earlier eras.
Trail signage already completed include the Charlie Martin Trail, Applewood Trail, Levi Creek Trail, Lisgar-Meadowbrook Trail, Lake Aquitaine and Wabukayne Trail, and many others. Upcoming trails include the Queensway Trail and the Burnhamthorpe Trail.
