Heritage Resource Centre at the Grange

We invite you to visit the Heritage Resource Centre at The Grange, or send your inquiries relating to the rich history and heritage of Mississauga to us! The Resource Centre is a public office providing research assistance and services as well providing heritage information on Mississauga – in short, it is a great place to start your research! We will provide with an introduction to our services as well as introducing you to the many other informational sources available to as researcher in Mississauga – regardless of whether you are an experienced researcher or just starting out.

Since moving to The Grange in 2004, the Heritage Resource Centre has grown steadily, and we have also seen our annual inquiry totals grow as well. In 2008 we received a total of 291 inquiries on a wide array of topics.

Through the Heritage Resource Centre at The Grange, Heritage Mississauga provides:

  • Introduction and networking opportunities with the wider heritage community!
  • Comprehensive research assistance!
  • Local history, historical geography and heritage resources!
  • Assisted community research!
  • Assisted Genealogy research with access to Ancestry.ca and Pages of the Past!
  • Consultation with a historian in connection with your research!
  • Summer employment opportunities for university students!
  • Special research projects!
  • Historical publications!

We invite you to support the Heritage Resource Centre: do you have history or heritage related books that are gathering dust? We are continually building a community resource centre at The Grange. Books in our library are available as a public resource. It is our hope that the Heritage Resource Centre will aid in the discovery of Mississauga, Peel and Ontario heritage. It is also a wonderful way to remember and honour individuals, as books donated to the Heritage Library can be identified with a bookplate signifying either “In Memory Of…” or “Donated By…”. Tax receipts are also available. We invite you to visit the Heritage Resource Centre, and to help it grow!
