Heritage Mississauga first started honouring members and groups from the community in 1995 to mark its 35th Anniversary. Since then we have honoured over 100 individuals or groups for their contribution to preservation and conservation of Mississauga’s heritage.
On Thursday February 18th at the Port Credit Legion, Heritage Mississauga will honour 10 more heritage heroes from this community for their role in ensuring the heritage of our city is preserved for today and future generations.
For the second year we will also be awarding excellence in successful adaptive reuse and preservation, restoration and enhancement of a designated cultural property. The Cultural Heritage Property Award presented by the Mississauga Heritage Advisory Committee in partnership with Heritage Mississauga accepts nominations under strict criteria. A team from both organizations reviews and selects a winner. Nominations for this year’s award are: 46 Bay Street , 1025 Stavebank Road , and 7025 Pond Street. The winner of this award will be announced on February 18th.
In celebration of the 50th Anniversary of Heritage Mississauga the Board of Directors is pleased to present a new award together with the Museums of Mississauga; the Betty Ross Memorial Award. This award honours a dedicated volunteer who gives their time to directly support the efforts of staff.
