Industrial History
Grade 8
This kit covers the local economic system in Mississauga starting with
the fur trade and extending right up to the business parks and shopping
malls of today. Slides of early Mississauga businesses and businessmen
will tell the story of a strong city. Also, several businesses which were
unique to Mississauga or significant on a Canadian or world wide scale
will further further student's understanding of their city's industrial
role.
Early Communities
These kits focus on the early villages and towns which subsequently became
part of the city of Mississauga. Currently available are kits on Cooksville/Dixie,
Erindale, Port Credit, and Streetsville. Planned for the future are three
kits on the communities of Malton, Meadowvale Village, and Clarkson. These
kits are excellent for teaching students about the towns they live in,
the development of early society, and provide an excellent resource for
teaching local human geography.
